Phil Schiller Steps Down From Apple App Store and Events Role

Phil Schiller, a veteran Apple executive who has been with the company for nearly four decades, is stepping down from his responsibilities overseeing the App Store and the company's product launch events. The move, reported by Bloomberg, comes as Apple undergoes a major leadership transition, with John Ternus set to become chief executive on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, succeeding Tim Cook, who will move to the role of executive chairman. Schiller, 66, will retain his title of Apple Fellow and will continue to work on unspecified internal initiatives. He first joined Apple in 1987, left, and returned with Steve Jobs in 1997.
