PGA Tour rules out immediate return for LIV Golf players

The PGA Tour will not create an immediate pathway for LIV Golf players to return to the U.S. circuit following the rival league's bankruptcy filing, its chief executive said Tuesday. Brian Rolapp stated the tour is not currently considering a returning-member program similar to the one offered to Brooks Koepka in January. The announcement comes one week after LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as it seeks to reorganize without funding from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. The PIF halted its investment after the 2026 season, leaving the future of the breakaway league and its star players in doubt. Rolapp emphasized that meritocracy and accountability remain core principles for the PGA Tour. "In terms of where we are today, we are not currently contemplating a returning-member program like the one you saw in January," he said during a virtual media call. Koepka rejoined the PGA Tour earlier this year under a deal that required him to pay $5 million to charity and forfeit access to player equity grants for five years, an estimated loss of $50 million to $85 million.
