Persona 1 and 2 Remakes Likely, Producer Says

Developer Atlus is considering remakes for the early entries in its Persona series, with producer Kazuhisa Wada stating that Persona 1 and Persona 2 are "something we'll probably eventually do too." Wada, who also serves as producer for the upcoming Persona 4 Revival, views remakes and remasters as a form of "cultural preservation," emphasizing a creator's duty to ensure their work remains accessible. Speaking in recent interviews, Wada reiterated his belief that bringing back the original Persona titles is a necessary endeavor. He explained that the intention to remake Persona 3 and Persona 4 was conceived around the same time, with Persona 4 Revival being placed on a "backburner" before its eventual development. This philosophy of preservation extends to the earliest games in the franchise, which are currently not readily available on modern gaming platforms. Persona 1, originally released in 1996, and its sequel Persona 2, released in 1999, are considered by many fans to be difficult to access.
