Pentagon to Livestream Hasan Execution if Schedule Holds

Published 9 October 2026

The Pentagon says it will livestream the U.S. Army’s scheduled execution of Nidal Hasan by firing squad, a broadcast plan officials announced ahead of a date that remains subject to legal review. The Army has scheduled the execution for December 3, 2026, at Fort Hood, Texas. Reports specify 1 p.m. local time. The Defense Department said President Donald Trump approved the sentence on the recommendation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. Pentagon officials said further details about the livestream would follow. The announced plan does not establish that the execution will occur as scheduled. Hasan’s appellate review is not complete, according to lawyer John Mills, who works with people sentenced to death. Mills said Hasan could seek further review in federal court, which could delay the execution. The reports do not say Hasan has filed a new appeal or that a court has stayed the sentence. Officials have not identified a streaming platform or explained how public access would work. Those details could affect the broadcast: some online services restrict or prohibit livestreams depicting death or graphic violence.
