PE teacher convicted of abusing three students

A former PE teacher has been convicted of sexually abusing three of her students across two schools, with sentencing still to come. Bronwen James, 30, was found guilty at Winchester Crown Court of three counts of sexual activity with a 16-year-old boy who was a pupil at Bitterne Park School in Southampton. Jurors acquitted her of one further count after around 12 hours of deliberation. She showed no emotion as the verdicts were returned on Thursday. It can now be reported that James had previously admitted a series of charges relating to two schoolgirls. These included four counts of sexual activity and one count of sexual communication with a girl abused from the age of 13 at Bitterne Park School, and two counts of sexual activity, one count of sexual communication and making an indecent photograph of a child relating to a 14-year-old girl she later taught at Hardenhuish School in Chippenham, Wiltshire, where James moved after leaving Southampton. The trial heard that James flirted with the boy in class before the pair exchanged Snapchat messages.
