Palestinian Man Killed in West Bank Village Shooting

Published 3 October 2026

A Palestinian man was killed and another person was injured in a shooting during an attack in the West Bank village of Yasuf on October 1, according to Palestinian officials. The village council head and health authorities identified the man as Mashour Yassin, 51. Accounts differ over who fired the fatal shots and when they were fired. Jumaa Abdel Fattah, head of the Yasuf village council, said settlers shot Yassin during an attack on his home on the village’s outskirts. He said the attackers came from the direction of a nearby settler outpost and that Yassin was shot before Israeli troops arrived. Palestinian health authorities also reported another person injured. The Palestinian Red Crescent said it treated two men wounded by live fire during the attack, but the available accounts do not establish who shot them. The Israeli military said it was examining the incident. In its account, Palestinians threw stones at Israelis approaching the village, and troops dispersed people before soldiers fired toward Palestinians. The military did not clarify whether its gunfire caused any casualties or directly address Abdel Fattah’s account that Yassin had been shot before troops arrived.
