The initial calls between father and son, occurring within the first week of Harry's arrival, were described as typical exchanges about family matters. However, tensions reportedly escalated after a formal letter, authorized by King Charles and sent to senior government and military officials, reiterated that Harry and Meghan remain nonworking members of the Royal Family. The letter stated that their position has not changed since their 2020 departure from royal duties and that they are to be treated as private individuals with commercial and charitable interests.
