Padikkal Stars in India's Sri Lanka Test Series
Devdutt Padikkal delivered a standout performance during India's recent Test tour of Sri Lanka, accumulating 328 runs across three innings at an average of 109.33. His efforts included two centuries, a score of 167 in Galle and 117 in Colombo, earning him the Player of the Series award and establishing him as a significant contributor in the middle order. Padikkal stepped into the crucial number three batting position in the absence of Sai Sudharsan, who was sidelined with a foot injury. This opportunity, Padikkal stated, was one he had eagerly awaited and prepared for. "Definitely, I was looking forward to it," he was quoted as saying. "Those opportunities don't come very easily. It takes a lot of hard work to make sure that you are continuing to improve yourself and waiting for that opportunity. I had to make sure that I was ready whenever I got it." He acknowledged the weight of expectations that come with batting at number three for India, a position previously occupied by stalwarts like Rahul Dravid and Cheteshwar Pujara.
