Packers RB Josh Jacobs Pleads No Contest to Misdemeanors

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs pleaded no contest Thursday in a Brown County, Wisconsin courtroom to misdemeanor charges of battery and criminal damage to property, resolving the criminal case that has kept him off the field since late August. The hearing was moved up from its original November 17 date at Jacobs's request, coming just three days before the Packers open their season against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. The court ordered Jacobs to pay a $1,000 fine plus costs on the battery count. As conditions of the agreement, he must avoid contact with the victim, complete counseling or a batterers intervention course, submit to Brown County Justice Services supervision, pay restitution, and avoid any further criminal acts. If Jacobs satisfies those requirements over the next 12 months, the criminal damage to property charge will be dismissed. If he fails to comply, he can be returned to court and found guilty on charges that each carry a maximum of nine months in jail and a $10,000 fine. District Attorney David Lasee confirmed he will not seek jail time.
