Osun Governor Orders Arrests After Ally Killed in Park Dispute

An ally of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke was shot dead on Sunday in a dispute over motor park leadership, prompting the governor to order arrests and the immediate establishment of a new park management system. The victim, identified in reports as Olalekan Ajagungbade, also known as Dauda Oyeyemi or Emir, was killed in Ile-Ife during a conflict over control of a commercial drivers' park. According to multiple reports, the killing occurred when Ajagungbade attended a meeting at a motor park to settle a leadership dispute with the current park leader, Nurudeen Alowonle. Unidentified gunmen reportedly entered the venue and shot him in the head. The incident sparked tension in parts of Osun State, with some associates of the victim accusing the Alowonle faction of being responsible, though this allegation has not been independently confirmed. Governor Adeleke responded swiftly, directing the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, to track and arrest all individuals involved in the killing.
