Ohio State Texas Headline College Football Week 2

Published 10 September 2026

Week 2 of the 2026 college football season features its most anticipated matchup of the young season on Saturday, Sept. 12, when No. 1 Ohio State visits Texas in Austin for a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. The Buckeyes, 1-0 after a 56-3 home win over Ball State on Sept. 5, won last season's meeting 14-7 in Columbus and also eliminated the Longhorns 28-14 in a 2024 College Football Playoff semifinal. Texas, ranked fourth in the AP Top 25 after a 59-7 rout of Texas State, is seeking revenge with College Football Playoff implications attached to the result. Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said Monday that the common thread in the last two losses to Ohio State was playing from behind, which forced the Longhorns to take extra risks. Quarterback Arch Manning, who threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the opener, said he and his teammates have grown since the 2025 season opener. Ohio State coach Ryan Day echoed that sentiment, saying quarterback Julian Sayin and Manning are two totally different players now compared with their first career starts in that 2025 game.
