Ohio State Crushes Kent State 59-3, Smith Sets Record

Ohio State delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, defeating Kent State 59-3 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus. The victory came as the Buckeyes rebounded from a stunning loss to Texas the previous week. Receiver Jeremiah Smith made history during the game, setting the Ohio State career receiving yards record with a 23-yard reception in the first quarter. Smith entered the game needing 26 yards to surpass the previous record held by Michael Jenkins. He finished with five catches for 85 yards, all in the first half. Quarterback Julian Sayin had a strong outing, completing his first 11 passes and throwing a 49-yard Hail Mary touchdown to Brandon Inniss on the final play of the first half. Sayin finished with 241 yards and two touchdowns, playing only in the first half. Kent State struggled offensively, with starting quarterback Dru DeShields replaced at halftime after completing 6 of 15 passes for 35 yards. Nolan Good took over but fumbled on his first series, leading to another Ohio State touchdown. The Buckeyes scored on all four of their first-half possessions, building a 35-0 lead by halftime.
