Nvidia CEO Huang Declares AGI Achieved With GPT-6 Astra
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has declared that artificial general intelligence (AGI) has been achieved, citing the recent release of OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra model as evidence. Huang made the proclamation on September 6, 2026, in a post on X, congratulating OpenAI on its new model. GPT-6 Astra was released by OpenAI on Friday, September 4, 2026. OpenAI described the model as its most advanced and ethically aligned artificial intelligence system to date, capable of performing a wide range of tasks including computer automation, software development, cybersecurity analysis, scientific research, and professional task execution. The system reportedly achieved exceptional benchmark results, including a 98 percent score on FrontierMath Tier 4, a 99.9 percent score on ARCAGI3, and a perfect 100 percent on ExploitBench. OpenAI stated that Astra is designed to handle extended and intricate workflows, autonomously controlling computer systems with minimal human intervention. The training process for GPT-6 Astra utilized an extensive infrastructure of over 100,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell NVLink72 computing systems.
