NSCDC Arrests Three in Alleged Pipeline Vandalism Case

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps’ Federal Capital Territory Command arrested three people on September 20 in Dafa, Kwali Area Council, in connection with alleged vandalism of a petroleum pipeline, Commandant Olusola Odumosu said. The commandant said operatives recovered a truck and 17 pieces of pipe during the operation. Odumosu said the suspects were allegedly trying to load into the truck pipeline sections that had been cut earlier and left behind after people suspected of vandalism fled from security personnel. Three people were arrested, while other alleged participants escaped. The account was given at a press briefing at the corps’ Kwali Divisional Office. According to Odumosu, the operation followed information from members of a local vigilante group working with the NSCDC. Security personnel then conducted surveillance along the pipeline’s right of way. He said the suspects returned to retrieve the abandoned pipe sections, creating an opportunity for the arrests.
