Northwest Naturals Recalls Raw Pet Food Over Salmonella, Listeria Risk

Published 1 September 2026

Northwest Naturals, a Portland, Oregon-based company, has issued a voluntary recall of nearly 2,000 pounds of its frozen raw pet food after federal testing confirmed the presence of Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. The recall, announced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, covers two chicken-based products distributed to retail stores nationwide and carries a warning about potential health risks to both pets and humans. The contamination was identified after the FDA collected and tested product samples. No illnesses in people or animals have been reported in connection with the recalled food as of August 28, 2026.
