North Korea reshuffles military leadership

North Korea has dismissed its defense minister and reshuffled its top military leadership in a move analysts say is designed to strengthen Kim Jong Un's control and accelerate weapons modernization. The changes were announced by state media on Sunday following a meeting of the ruling party's Central Military Commission on Saturday. According to the Korean Central News Agency, Kim Jong Un approved the "structural reorganization plans" at the meeting. Defense Minister No Kwang Chol was removed from his post and demoted within the party to first vice director of the Munitions Industry Department.
