Norman Credits LIV for DeChambeau's YouTube Rise
Greg Norman, the former chief executive of LIV Golf, has claimed that the breakaway league's policies were instrumental in enabling golfer Bryson DeChambeau to build a massive YouTube following. Speaking on a podcast, Norman argued that LIV Golf provided DeChambeau with intellectual property rights and a lighter competition schedule, creating opportunities that would not have existed on the PGA Tour. DeChambeau's YouTube channel has grown to over 2.7 million subscribers, making him one of golf's most influential content creators. His videos feature celebrity collaborations, challenges, and behind-the-scenes access, attracting audiences beyond traditional golf viewers. Norman emphasized that LIV's structure allowed players to monetize their own content and personal brands outside of tournament weeks. "He can only have that because of LIV because we gave him his IP rights," Norman said. "When you're not playing a LIV tournament, you can go do whatever you want, you can monetize your IP." He added that LIV's schedule of 14 events gave DeChambeau more time to focus on projects like his YouTube channel, which could benefit him long after his playing career.
