No signs of survivors among 77 missing Tibet flood pilgrims
The Isha Foundation reported on August 29 that there were no encouraging signs of survivors among 77 of its pilgrims who were at an immigration office in Tibet's Gyirong when it was destroyed by flash floods on August 26. The organization stated that the immigration office complex had been completely washed away, and its ground teams had verified the extent of the destruction through multiple sources. The pilgrims were returning from the Mansarovar Yatra when they were caught in the disaster at the Gyirong Port immigration center. Chinese authorities resumed search and rescue operations at the site around noon on August 28 after a temporary pause due to risks of secondary flooding.
