NMC Publishes NEET PG 2026-27 Seat Matrix as MCC Schedule Awaits

The National Medical Commission has published the postgraduate medical seat matrix for the 2026-27 academic year, listing approved seats for NEET PG admissions. The detailed counselling schedule has not yet been announced by the Medical Counselling Committee, leaving candidates without confirmed dates for registration and subsequent stages. The matrix, published September 29, sets out approved annual intake by institution and course. One reported tally puts the total at 63,177 seats across government, private and deemed institutions: 33,088 in government colleges, 21,892 in private institutions and 8,197 in deemed institutions. It also contains 10,756 course-wise entries. A separate tally describes about 58,000 MD, MS and diploma seats for 2026-27, compared with 52,173 in the previous year, an increase of about 11%. That figure covers a differently described set of programmes from the 63,177-seat total; the available reports do not reconcile the two counts, so they should not be treated as interchangeable. The matrix is intended to show candidates the seats approved for counselling. In the reported state breakdown, Karnataka has the largest total, with 8,323 seats.
