Nigerian Woman Unreachable After Doha Arrival
The family of a 37-year-old Nigerian woman is raising urgent concerns after she became unreachable shortly after arriving in Doha, Qatar, on September 1, 2026. Saratu Jibo Yusuf traveled from Lagos to Doha aboard Qatar Airways flight QR1408, and her last known communication was a WhatsApp message to her brother, Jonathan Jibo, while she was still on the aircraft using its WiFi. A family friend who was waiting to receive her at the airport could not locate her upon arrival. According to her brother, the family later contacted the airline and airport authorities, who confirmed that Ms. Yusuf had collected her luggage and exited the terminal. Mr. Jibo expressed particular concern because his sister was familiar with airport procedures, having worked at Lagos airport for nearly 12 years. He described her as independent and hardworking, noting this was her first trip outside Nigeria. She had no friends in Qatar, and the family had arranged and paid for her accommodation months in advance. She was also expected to resume work in Doha a few weeks after her arrival. Mr. Jibo raised the alarm on Thursday, September 3, after 48 hours without contact.
