Nigerian Army Redeploys Senior Officers to Boost Operations
The Nigerian Army has announced a significant redeployment of senior officers, including the appointment of a new commander for its critical counter-insurgency operation in the Northeast. The changes, approved by Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, are intended to enhance operational effectiveness, strengthen leadership, and align the Army's command structure with the nation's evolving security challenges. Major General Ibikunle Ajose has been appointed Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force Northeast, Operation HADIN KAI, replacing Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar. Operation HADIN KAI is the Army's primary operation against Boko Haram and other terrorist groups in the Northeast. Major General Abubakar has been reassigned to the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, where he will serve as Dean of the Faculty of Operational Research. The redeployments were communicated in a statement issued by Colonel Appolonia Anele, Acting Director, Army Public Relations.
