Nigerian airlines delayed 60% of domestic flights in August

About 60% of domestic flights operated by Nigerian airlines in August were delayed, according to a report from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, highlighting persistent operational challenges in the country's aviation sector. The NCAA data shows that 4,765 out of 7,961 domestic flights were delayed during the month, with 36 flights cancelled. Air Peace recorded the highest number of delays, with 1,330 of its 1,864 flights disrupted. United Nigeria Airlines followed with 943 delays from 1,231 flights and also had the most cancellations at eight. Enugu Air recorded 582 delays from 878 flights, while other carriers including Value Jet, Ibom Air, and Aero also saw significant disruptions. The delays varied in length. The NCAA reported that 2,801 flights were delayed between 16 minutes and one hour, while 1,322 were delayed between one and two hours. More serious disruptions affected hundreds of flights, with 407 delayed between two and three hours and 235 delayed for three hours or more. Air Peace accounted for 108 of the longest delays.
