Nigeria Presidency Says APC 2027 Campaign Council List Not Withdrawn

The Nigerian Presidency has clarified that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council list for the 2027 election will undergo adjustments but has not been withdrawn, following public controversy over its composition. The announcement came as a group of lawmakers criticized the inclusion of senior public officials in the council, warning it could blur the line between government duties and partisan politics. Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made the clarification on August 27, 2026, during a television appearance. He stated that the over 200-member list remains valid, but the party has yet to form all the subcommittees that will make up the campaign structure. "That list has not been withdrawn. The APC has issued a statement to that effect yesterday, that list stands. But of course, there will be adjustments," Dare said.
