Nigeria Plans China Oil Summit for Investment
Nigeria's Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) is preparing to host an oil and gas investment summit in China, tentatively scheduled for late November 2026. The initiative aims to attract foreign capital, boost revenue for the Federation Account, and promote partnerships within Nigeria's petroleum sector. Officials stated the summit will present investment opportunities across the upstream, midstream, and downstream segments of the industry, with a particular emphasis on Nigeria's substantial gas resources. The RMAFC has begun consultations with relevant government agencies, including the Ministry of State for Petroleum Resources Gas, and has engaged Nigerian diplomatic and investment-promotion institutions in China. A stakeholder breakfast meeting was held in Abuja on September 9, 2026, to brief industry participants and gather recommendations for the event's organization. According to RMAFC Chairman Dr. Mohammed Shehu, the commission has already visited China to meet with Nigerian diplomatic officials, trade representatives, and event consultants.
