Nigeria disburses N819m to 1,638 widows of fallen security personnel

The Nigerian government presented financial support to 1,638 families of security personnel who died in the line of duty during a ceremony at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday, August 27, 2026. The event, the second edition of the Renewed Hope Initiative Social Investment Programme, was presided over by First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu and attended by senior military and police officials. First Lady Tinubu announced a total disbursement of N819 million to the beneficiaries. She specified that N657.5 million was allocated for 1,315 widows of fallen military personnel, while N161.5 million was designated for 323 widows of deceased police officers.
