NFL Bars Two Players From 2026 Season After College Return Attempt

The National Football League has issued a memo barring defensive tackle Zxavian Harris and tight end Dae’Quan Wright from visiting, trying out for, or signing with any NFL team during the 2026 season. The decision comes after both players left NFL training camps in an attempt to return to college football at Louisiana State University. Harris and Wright were waived from their respective NFL teams over the summer after spending time in training camps as undrafted free agents. Following court rulings that temporarily allowed athletes to seek an additional season of eligibility under new NCAA rules, they enrolled at LSU with hopes of playing for head coach Lane Kiffin. However, the Southeastern Conference opposed their inclusion, threatening severe sanctions against LSU. Ultimately, Kiffin did not add them to the Tigers' roster for the 2026 season, leaving both players without a college team. The NFL's memo, sent to teams on Wednesday, clarified that Harris and Wright are ineligible for the remainder of the season because they returned to college after the opening of NFL training camp.
