Nexus Mods Acquires SteamDB Database

Nexus Mods, the world's largest mod-sharing platform, has acquired SteamDB, the independent database and analytics site widely used by PC gamers, developers, and publishers. The announcement was made on September 2, 2026, by both companies. The acquisition aims to provide SteamDB with the long-term stability and resources its founder, known as xPaw, said he could no longer maintain alone. SteamDB was launched in 2013 as a hobby project by xPaw and a collaborator known as Marlamin. It has since grown into a trusted resource that tracks live player counts, price history, update information, and other data for the entire Steam catalog. In a statement, xPaw explained that running the site had evolved from a hobby into a full-time responsibility, and he began seeking a partner earlier in 2026 to ensure its future. "What mattered most to me was finding a team that understands what it means to be responsible for something the community depends on, and that shares my belief in building useful tools for gamers," xPaw said. Nexus Mods, owned by a company called Chosen, said the two platforms share a common origin as passion projects that grew to serve millions.
