These sales, alongside others like Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh in June 2024, were necessary to navigate financial regulations and avoid repeating past UEFA sanctions. Chief Financial Officer Simon Capper noted that while the club is not in an "absolutely comfortable place" financially, it has achieved an acceptable level of risk and is compliant with current regulations, with forecasts indicating continued compliance. The summer also saw the departure of long-serving head coach Eddie Howe.
