The series marks a first for the long-running franchise by featuring a real Great Dane dog in the title role of Scooby-Doo, rather than relying on CGI or animation. Production on the first season wrapped in Atlanta, Georgia, as confirmed by the company's announcement. The cast stars Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Tanner Hagen as Shaggy Rogers, Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, and Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones. The ensemble also includes Paul Walter Hauser, Rusty Schwimmer, Peter Macon, Jona Xiao, André "3000" Benjamin, and Cathy Moriarty, among others. According to the official logline, the series is a modern reimagining that follows the gang during their final summer at camp. The story begins when Shaggy and Daphne become involved in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely, lost Great Dane puppy that may have witnessed a supernatural murder.
