Netflix Releases Trailer for Florence Pugh-Led East of Eden Series
Netflix has released the full-length trailer for its upcoming limited series "East of Eden," a new adaptation of John Steinbeck's classic novel starring Florence Pugh as the iconic antiheroine Cathy Ames. The seven-episode series is set to premiere on October 1, 2026. The trailer introduces the sprawling, multigenerational saga set in California's Salinas Valley, spanning from the American Civil War to the end of World War I. Pugh's Cathy Ames is the central figure, a manipulative and morally complex character whose arrival disrupts the lives of the Trask family. The story follows her relationship with Adam Trask, played by Christopher Abbott, and their twin sons, Cal and Aron, portrayed by Joseph Zada and Joe Anders, respectively. Mike Faist stars as Adam's brother, Charles Trask. The series is written and executive produced by Zoe Kazan, who has a personal connection to the material. Her grandfather, Elia Kazan, directed the acclaimed 1955 film adaptation of the novel, which launched James Dean's career. Kazan has stated that her version aims to adapt the entirety of Steinbeck's novel, with a particular focus on the character of Cathy Ames.
