Netflix raises UK prices for second time

Netflix has increased its subscription prices for customers in the United Kingdom, marking the second time the streaming service has raised its fees in the country this year. The new rates, which took effect on September 3, see the cheapest plan jump by a third, while all other tiers also see significant increases. The most substantial change affects the Standard with Ads plan, which has risen from £5.99 to £7.99 per month, a 33.4% increase. The ad-free Standard plan has gone up from £12.99 to £13.99, and the Premium tier, which allows streaming on more devices and the addition of extra members, has increased from £18.99 to £20.99. The cost of adding an extra member to a subscription has also risen from £4.99 to £5.99 per month. The updated pricing applies immediately to new customers. Existing subscribers will receive one month's notice via email before the changes are applied to their accounts, with the exact timing dependent on their individual billing cycles. Netflix stated that the adjustments reflect improvements to its service and content library.
