Netflix Orders Stranger Things Prequel for 2028

Netflix has ordered Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, a live-action prequel series set to premiere in 2028. The announcement was made on November 6, 2026, alongside a teaser that places the story in Marion, Nevada, on April 19, 1955. The series is set before the events of the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow, as well as the original Stranger Things. Netflix has released few plot details. The teaser shows an abandoned bicycle near a restricted area and a disturbance in the sky, but does not explain what happens or who the new characters are. Kate Trefry, a longtime Stranger Things writer who wrote The First Shadow, is the showrunner and a co-creator. Matt and Ross Duffer, creators of the original series, are also co-creators and executive producers. Joe Wright will direct the first three episodes. Netflix has said the series will film in New Mexico.
