Netflix Announces Two Top Boy Spinoff Series

Netflix has announced two new spinoff series expanding the universe of the BAFTA-winning British crime drama Top Boy, with actor Barry Keoghan set to reprise his role as Jonny McGee in a prequel series titled Jonny Boy. The announcement was made during the Edinburgh TV Festival on Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The streaming giant also confirmed a separate series centered on the character Jaq, with actress Jasmine Jobson returning to the role. Jonny Boy is a five-episode prequel that will explore the origin story of Keoghan's character, a drug distributor working for his uncle within an Irish crime organization. The series is written by Ronan Bennett, the creator of the original Top Boy.
