Nepal Issues New Flood Warning as Bhote Koshi River Rises

Nepal issued a fresh flood warning on Sunday, August 30, 2026, as water levels in the Bhote Koshi River continued to rise, threatening to disrupt ongoing rescue operations following catastrophic flash floods earlier in the week. The alert, issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), came as the combined death toll from the disaster reached at least 750, with more than 3,000 people still missing across Nepal and China's Tibet region. The NDRRMA warned residents in downstream districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, and Chitwan, to exercise extreme caution. Emergency services were placed on standby as river levels rose following heavy rainfall.
