Nepal Cabinet Recommends Ambassadors for 13 Countries

Nepal's cabinet on Friday recommended ambassadors for 13 countries, including India, China, and the United States, in a move that requires parliamentary approval and formal consent from the respective nations. The key appointment is Nischal Nath Pandey, a foreign policy scholar, as the proposed ambassador to India. The recommendations were made during a cabinet meeting led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pandey, who currently serves as Director of the Centre for South Asian Studies, has a background in foreign policy, having previously served as executive director of the Institute of Foreign Affairs from 1998 to 2006. He has advised the government on various issues, including tourism and civil aviation, and holds a PhD in political science. Other nominees include Kalyan Raj Sharma, a Nepal-China affairs specialist and economist, for China, and Chiran Jung Thapa, a national security and international affairs specialist, for the United States.
