Neon releases US trailer for Hamaguchi's All of a Sudden

Neon has released the first United States trailer for All of a Sudden, the latest film from Japanese director Ryusuke Hamaguchi, setting the stage for the drama's arrival in American theaters on November 25, 2026. The trailer offers American audiences their first extended look at stars Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto, who together won the Best Actress award at the 79th Cannes Film Festival earlier this year. The film is set in France and Japan and follows Marie-Lou, played by Efira, the director of a care facility for the elderly who is determined to introduce an innovative philosophy of care rooted in listening and respect for residents' dignity, despite resistance from members of her staff. Her path is reshaped by an encounter with Mari, played by Okamoto, a Japanese theater director battling cancer. As the two women form a deep friendship, they join forces in what the film's logline describes as a shared struggle to make the impossible possible. All of a Sudden is Hamaguchi's first feature set outside Japan, and it was shot in French as well as Japanese.
