NDC Denies Illegal Payments in Candidate Selection
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has vehemently denied allegations of illegal payments and favouritism in its candidate selection and financing processes for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The party stated that all financial contributions, including donations and levies, were paid into designated party accounts and managed by approved party structures, refuting claims that its National Leader, Seriake Dickson, demanded or received money from aspirants for personal use. In a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, the NDC's National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, described the allegations as a deliberate campaign of misinformation and propaganda orchestrated by disgruntled elements and political opponents. He emphasized that the party's funding mechanisms are constitutional and transparent, with all contributions duly received, receipted, and accounted for in line with global best practices. The NDC plans to render a full account of its finances as required by the Electoral Act and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.
