NASA Roman Space Telescope Launch Set for Aug. 30
NASA is preparing to launch its next-generation observatory, the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, on a mission to explore the universe's deepest mysteries. The launch is scheduled for no earlier than 7:26 a.m. EDT on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The telescope will be carried into space aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. The mission, which represents an approximately $4 billion investment, will send the telescope to the second Sun-Earth Lagrange point, or L2, about one million miles from Earth. According to NASA officials, the launch comes nine months ahead of the originally planned schedule.
