NASA awards SpaceX $946 million for three more ISS crew missions

NASA has awarded SpaceX a $946 million contract modification for three additional crew missions to the International Space Station, extending the company's role as the primary U.S. provider for astronaut transportation through 2030. The award, announced on September 18, 2026, covers the Crew-15, Crew-16, and Crew-17 missions, bringing SpaceX's total number of crew flights under the Commercial Crew Transportation Capability contract to 17. The modification raises the total value of SpaceX's CCtCap contract to $5.92 billion. It is a firm fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity award that includes ground processing, launch, in-orbit operations, return and recovery, cargo transportation for each mission, and a lifeboat capability while the spacecraft is docked to the station. The period of performance for the new missions runs through 2030. NASA stated that the sole-source modification does not preclude the agency from seeking future contract modifications for additional transportation services. The award follows a notice of intent NASA issued in May to purchase the additional missions.
