Musk's America PAC reports $800,000 in August spending for 2026 midterms

Elon Musk's America PAC has disclosed its first major spending for the 2026 midterm elections, injecting just over $800,000 into competitive congressional races across the country during a 12-day period in August. The expenditures, reported to the Federal Election Commission on September 3, mark the beginning of a significant financial push by the world's wealthiest person to help Republicans retain control of Congress. The bulk of the spending, which averaged roughly $70,000 per day between August 19 and August 31, was directed toward Senate contests. The largest single investment was in Texas, where the PAC spent nearly $248,000 supporting Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton and opposing his Democratic rival, James Talarico. In Maine, the PAC allocated approximately $170,000, with about $135,000 spent against Democratic nominee Troy Jackson and roughly $35,000 supporting incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins. Additional funds were sent to Senate races in Ohio, New Hampshire, Iowa, Michigan, and Alaska. The filings indicate the money was primarily used for "printing" expenses paid to Storytellers Group, a political vendor specializing in direct mail.
