Musgraves' Chicago plea for immigrant children sparks debate

Published 25 August 2026

Country music star Kacey Musgraves sparked a heated online debate after asking concertgoers to donate to a nonprofit supporting immigrant children during the opening night of her tour in Chicago. The eight-time Grammy winner made the appeal on August 22, 2026, which was also her 38th birthday, while performing at the United Center. She paused the show to encourage donations to the Young Center for Immigrant Children's Rights, a Chicago-based organization.
