Murder probe after man shot in Sheffield woods

A murder investigation is underway after the body of a man was discovered with a gunshot wound in Sheffield woodland. Ryan Kettlewell, 38, was found in Ecclesall Woods on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. A forensic postmortem examination confirmed that Kettlewell died as a result of a gunshot wound. Following the discovery of his body at approximately 6:46 PM on September 2, South Yorkshire Police launched a murder investigation. Detectives and officers have been working to establish the circumstances surrounding his death. Two individuals, a 34-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, were arrested on September 3, 2026, on suspicion of murder. They have since been released on police bail as inquiries continue.
