MotoGP Confirms 2027 Pre-Season Testing Schedule

Published 4 September 2026

MotoGP has confirmed its pre-season testing schedule and the date for the first race of its new 850cc era, with the 2027 season set to begin in Thailand on March 5. The announcement outlines a condensed testing program that will see riders have less track time on the new machinery and Pirelli tyres compared to previous years. The pre-season action commences with a one-day test at the Valencia circuit on December 1, 2026, following the conclusion of the 2026 season. This initial outing will provide the first look at the new rider lineups on the 850cc bikes. After a winter break, the official testing program begins at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. A two-day shakedown test for factory test riders and rookies is scheduled for January 29-30, 2027, immediately followed by a two-day official test for all riders from January 31 to February 1. The final pre-season test will be held at the Buriram circuit in Thailand on February 6-7, one month before the season-opening Thai Grand Prix at the same venue. This earlier date for the Buriram test is a change from previous years and is intended to allow teams more time for modifications before the first race.
