Morgan Stanley Emails Clients Internal List of 100-Plus Deals

Published 24 September 2026

Morgan Stanley accidentally emailed some clients an internal list of more than 100 investment-banking deals it was pitching or monitoring, including potential public offerings and other transactions across Asia, according to people familiar with the matter. The bank said it took steps to address the inadvertent sharing and continues to engage with relevant parties. The list reportedly included possible initial public offerings in India, China and South Korea, along with private-equity and pension-fund backers of some companies and projects that had been put on hold. The document focused mainly on Asia but also covered deals in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. People familiar with the matter said Mohamed Atmani, Morgan Stanley’s Asia-Pacific head of financial sponsors in its investment-banking division, sent the internal file to clients by email and later attempted to recall it. He had intended to send a separate, client-facing document containing general updates on the private-equity sector and recent transactions, according to the account of the incident. Some sections of the internal file reportedly contained price-sensitive information.
