Monad, an Ethereum-compatible layer-one blockchain, has proposed a significant wallet security upgrade that would allow users to replace lost or outdated cryptographic keys without changing their permanent wallet address or moving assets. The proposal, outlined in a draft Monad Improvement Proposal, aims to separate a wallet's identity from the credentials used to control it, addressing a long-standing vulnerability in crypto security. Under the current model used by most Ethereum-compatible wallets, a private key is intrinsically tied to a wallet address.
