Monaco defeats PSG, champions winless in Ligue 1

Monaco secured a 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes on Friday, leaving the French champions winless in their opening three Ligue 1 matches of the season. The result propelled Monaco to the top of the league standings with a perfect nine points from three games. Paris Saint-Germain, who are chasing a sixth consecutive Ligue 1 title, have endured a difficult start to the campaign. The team has accumulated just two points from their opening fixtures, following consecutive 2-2 draws against Rennes and Lille. They also lost to Lens in the French Champions Trophy. In Friday's match, PSG took the lead in the 31st minute when captain Marquinhos headed home a delivery from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. However, Monaco mounted a second-half comeback. Flavio Nazinho equalized in the 58th minute with a header from a Jordan Teze cross. Stanis Idumbo then scored the winning goal for Monaco in the 72nd minute, firing a shot from a tight angle after being supplied by Aleksandr Golovin. The match also saw PSG announce that coach Luis Enrique had extended his contract until 2030, with several players also signing new deals.
