Published 29 August 2026

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Tashkent on Saturday, August 29, 2026, for a two-day state visit to Uzbekistan, where he was personally received by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The visit culminated on Sunday, August 30, with the two nations agreeing to elevate their bilateral relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and signing a series of agreements to deepen cooperation across trade, energy, and cultural sectors. The upgraded partnership, marking the 15th anniversary of the original strategic relationship, sets a target to increase annual bilateral trade to $5 billion by 2030, up from the current volume of over $1 billion.
