Modi and UAE President Discuss West Asia in Phone Call

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan held a phone call on September 18, 2026, to discuss developments in West Asia and ways to strengthen bilateral ties. The conversation, confirmed by the Prime Minister's Office, focused on regional security and the expansion of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. During the call, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to continued cooperation and coordination in efforts to promote peace, security, and stability in West Asia. They also discussed new measures to further deepen their strategic partnership, with specific attention to energy, defence, technology, investment, and health sectors. Sheikh Mohamed conveyed birthday greetings to Prime Minister Modi, who turned 76 on September 17, and congratulated him on India's successful presidency of BRICS. Modi expressed gratitude for the wishes and thanked the UAE for the participation of Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in the BRICS Summit, as well as for the UAE's cooperation in achieving substantive outcomes under India's leadership.
