The controversy surrounding the use of Rajasthani artist Rapperiya Baalam's song "Shoorveer" in "Mirzapur The Movie" has been addressed, with the track's label confirming its official licensing. Trouper Records stated that the song was licensed to Excel Entertainment for use in the film, effectively resolving the copyright and licensing dispute. The clarification came after Rapperiya Baalam publicly expressed his disappointment following the film's theatrical release on September 4, 2026. He alleged that "Shoorveer," a song he created as a tribute to the historical figure Maharana Pratap, was used in a sequence featuring gangsters without his consent or proper credit. Taking to social media, Baalam stated, "Today, my heart is broken." He questioned the decision to use a song dedicated to Maharana Pratap to "glorify villains" in the movie, calling it an insult to Rajasthan and the warrior's legacy. Baalam added that he would have been willing to collaborate and offer creative ideas if the filmmakers had approached him directly. He expressed hurt over the perceived lack of respect for his work and the historical figure it honors.
