Meta releases Muse Spark 1.3 AI model
Meta Platforms has released its latest artificial intelligence model, Muse Spark 1.3, a significant upgrade designed to enhance coding and agentic capabilities, bringing the company closer to leading competitors. The new model became available to developers on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and its release has coincided with a notable increase in Meta's stock value. The company states that Muse Spark 1.3 represents a substantial leap in performance, particularly in its ability to execute complex sequences of tasks with less human intervention and to handle multiple workflows simultaneously. According to Alexandr Wang, Meta's Chief AI Officer, the model is now on par with leading offerings from rivals such as Anthropic's Claude Fable 5.1 and outperforms OpenAI's GPT5.6 Sol on coding tasks. Wang also highlighted improvements in efficiency, noting that Muse Spark 1.3 can perform tasks using approximately 25 fewer tokens, potentially making it more cost-effective to operate. Meta plans to integrate Muse Spark 1.3 into its own products, including Facebook and Instagram, though a specific timeline for this rollout has not yet been provided.
